After three recent defeats at Somerset, Ipswich and Berwick in eight days the Harry Jordan Haulage Lions have made a change at reserve for Saturday’s Premier League fixture at home to the Workington Comets (subject to BSPA approval).
Coming into the side on loan from Berwick is Alex Edberg to replace Simon Nielsen who missed a chunk of last season following a crash in June against Plymouth at Leicester when he broke his thigh.
“Simon is such a likeable guy and a team man through and through. In my opinion Simon has not yet returned to his pre-June 2012 form but if we were having a better season results wise we could afford to give him extra time needed to get back to where he was before the accident” said Lions Team Manager Glyn Taylor.
Edberg also missed the end of last season after breaking his collar-bone but before that he had shown enough potential to be asked back again this season only to be the one to make way in order to fit Edward Kennett into the Bandits team before Leicester’s fixture at Berwick last weekend. Edberg will form a new partnership at reserve for Leicester with Robert Branford and the British Under-21 Champion will also make his home debut on Saturday against Workington.
Workington reached the semi-final stage of three major competitions last season but a series of injuries hampered their progress. The Comets have resumed their winning habit again so far this season and are handily placed at the top of the Premier League table and through to the next round of the Knock-out Cup competition.
Although Leicester have won their opening two home league fixtures against Redcar and Ipswich they have yet to collect a point on their travels and with just nine away meetings remaining it is important that the Lions start to pick up points if they are to make the play-offs for a second time.
